Uncas Health District Awarded $20,000 Grant
Susan G. Komen Foundation to fund breast health education and outreach
Norwich – The Susan G. Komen Foundation awarded a $20,000 grant to the Uncas Health District at an April 4th ceremony in Hartford. The funding will support programming aimed at reducing breast cancer mortality rates in Norwich, Montville, Sprague, and Bozrah. Specifically, the efforts will target medically underserved individuals that are uninsured and underinsured. Patrick McCormack, Director of Health stated, “Local health departments are working on a regular basis with regional partners to promote preventive health. The Komen Foundation recognizes the need to educate men and women of our area on the need for early detection to prevent all cancers.”
