Ground Beef Recall
WASHINGTON, Nov. 3, 2007 – Cargill Meat Solutions Corp., a Wyalusing, Pa., firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 1,084,384 pounds of ground beef products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today. pdf read more

Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department develops MRSA Toolkit for Middle & High Schools that may be helpful in responding to questions about MRSA and schools.
This toolkit has been designed to help prevent and stop or reduce the spread of Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) skin infections in middle and high schools. It contains educational materials targeted to the school health team, athletic directors/coaches, custodians, athletes / students and parents.

Staphylococcus aureus (“staph”) infections have been around for a long time, causing mild to severe illness. MRSA is a kind of staph infection that may be more difficult to treat but is otherwise the same as a “staph infection”. Mild infections may look like a pimple or boil and can be red, swollen, painful, or have pus or other drainage.
